Could I ask, is everyone of the same opinion still about PS 1.7
At some point I will need to move on from 1,6 and if it’s still a mare, then I’ll move onto something else.
Any ideas for an alternative, or is that just opening a can of worms B-)

thirty bees is still a better option than 1.7 It supports overrides, it’s updated often, and it’s faster than PrestaShop

I’m screwed. Our PS1.6 store uses Overrides and we can’t upgrade without it costing $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I’m literally about to give up on Prestashop. The amount of issues I have had with this CMS is endless. OpenCart is much easier to manage. F#ck Prestashop!!! PS1.7 can eat a bag of D#cks

I confirm your prediction.
I have upgraded from version 1.4 to version 1.7.
Needless to say, I had to leave the job to 2 external programmers.
But they are also in trouble because of an impressive amount of bugs.
In addition, the slowness of the new backoffice and the fact of having to constantly clear the cache for the changes to take effect, makes the work very slow, and therefore expensive.
If someone today asked me for advice on how to open an online store, I definitely would not recommend Prestashop.

I currently run my shop on PS 1.6.1.0 and after reading this article I will probably not upgrade any time soon. To be honest i am tired of Prestashop and their incapacity to be able to provide a workable automatic upgrade. It was a real pain in the ass to upgrade from prestashop 1.1 to 1.4 then from 1.4 to 1.6 , so painful that i will think twice before to do it again, especially when you upgrade a website on production (i use Prestashop since 2009 for my business). As mentioned in the above article, there is alternatives and i currently looking around to use one of them, just worry about migrating from a platform to another one.

Its not like criticize but they just put a product in market which is not ready. Overrides are gone now so its very difficult to keep core intact. Modules will help but its not possible to do everything using modules. I am working on prestashop from 2010 but now i feel that i should move to some other solution as team prestashop lost there vision. One problem in prestashop is there for filters from day 1 but company is not ready to offer a simple solution and trying to make money out of it. its almost 2 years to prestashop 1.7 but i m not suggesting my single client to move on it as it will cost them lot to fix shit and buggy code.
